Proberty and Casualty

Property/Casualty is a broad class of insurance comprising such areas as workers compensation, auto, homeowners, windstorm, flood, fire, hazard, and commercial general liability. Workers compensation matters themselves are infused with subcategories such as premium computation, classification of employees, exemption issues, premium fraud, experience modification factor issues, and claims resolution. Property/Casualty also deals with personal and business insurance matters such as claims arising out of automobile negligence, claims resulting from a natural or man-made disaster, and claims arising out of the operation of a business, whether it be on the part of the business insured seeking benefits from a loss of or destruction to a shipment, nonconforming goods, or an injury claim against the business. IEG's founders possess a wealth of experience in all of these areas both within and outside of litigation, and can assist you not only in prosecuting or defending insurance-related litigation, but also with undertaking measures to reduce or prevent litigation from arising in the first instance.

Mr. Camilleri is the former general counsel for the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI), the national ratemaking organization for workers compensation. Mr. Camilleri's experience includes both consultation and expert witness assistance in specific areas related to development of experience modification factors, analysis of audit premium, and appearances before the Workers Compensation Appeals Board and the Florida Department of Insurance. Mr. Camilleri works closely with IEG co-founder Anthony J. Grippa in matters relating to workers compensation.

Mr. Grippa's 30 years of actuarial and insurance management experience span the areas of pricing, reserving, and data systems. Mr. Grippa has presented expert testimony before state regulatory authorities in over twenty jurisdictions in the U.S., and he has worked with employers, regulators, lobbyists, and legislators in evaluating legislative proposals for property and casualty insurance.

Mr. Smart has spent over 30 years in the insurance industry both as an agent and a principal of his own workers compensation consulting firm before joining IEG. Mr. Smart has served as an expert witness in litigation relating to audit premium disputes, agent liability, and coverage disputes.

Mr. Barnes has been deeply involved in insurance litigation for over 20 years as counsel for both plaintiffs and defendants, and representing insurers and insureds, in claims arising out of workers' compensation premium, unfair and deceptive insurance practices, coverage disputes, premises liability, professional negligence, and automobile negligence.
